INCLEMENT WEATHER

Severe weather conditions may require that weekday meetings and activities, Bible Study classes and Sunday morning worship services, be cancelled. Olive Branch will use the following communication methods to inform you of cancellations:
- send an email
- have it announced on WTOP radio station (1500 AM and 103.5 FM).
Olive Branch will also check the Montgomery County Public School system’s website http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org to assist in making the decision to cancel activities.

MINISTER OF MUSIC

Special Announcement: The Olive Branch Community Church (OBCC), Sandy Spring, MD, is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Minister of Music. This individual will provide administrative and visionary leadership to the music ministry of Olive Branch in accordance with the mission of OBCC. Click here for a copy of the announcement. OBCC MATH CAMP

The Math Camp will be held for two weeks, August 3-14, 2015, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Olive Branch Rectory. This is one of our successful community outreach programs. Applications are available on the Welcome table. All applications must be received in the church office on or before Monday, July 13, 2015.

CHURCH MEETING

There will be a church meeting on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Rectory immediately following Worship Service. If any member has questions/items to be addressed, please forward your request(s) to the church office, Pastor, or one of the Elders by close of business, Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Members are encouraged to attend.

MEN’S BIBLE FELLOWSHIP

On Saturday, June 27, 2015, the Men’s Bible Fellowship will meet at the Rectory from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Grab your scuba gear and join us for Adventures at Sea at the Rectory starting Monday, June 22, 2015, through Friday June 26, 2015, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The VBS application is available on the Welcome Table and the on the OBCC website (www.obcchurch.org).

OBCC BAZAAR/YARD SALE

One person’s unwanted items can be another person’s treasure. Get ready for the summer bazaar/yard sale, sponsor by OBCC, on Saturday, June 6, 2015. A sign-up sheet for volunteers is available on the Usher’s table. More information to follow.

EDUCATION SUNDAY

On Sunday, June 14, 2015, all students will be recognized during worship service for their academic achievements, including the awarding of the Dr. Robert J. Cummings Book Award. An application, located on the Usher’s Table, must be completed for each student. The guest speaker for Education Sunday will be Ms. Aqueelha James, Principal, John Burroughs Education Campus, Washington, DC.

YOUTH MINISTRY

The Youth Lock-In will be Friday, May 29, 2015, at the OBCC Rectory from 8:00 p.m. until Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Parents are needed to volunteer to spend the night and prepare breakfast Saturday morning. The activity for this year's lock-in will be open mic night and karaoke. The congregation will be invited to come out and show their talents. The Movie for the night will be BIG HERO 6. WOMEN’S MINISTRY EVENT

PLEDGE CARDS

OBCC is aware that members/visitors/friends are still contributing to the building fund/capital campaign, at the rate you were giving in 2014. However, it is necessary to have this information on paper. So if you did not complete a pledge form for calendar year 2015, please click here to print and submit pledge card to an Usher, Elder, or a member of the Finance Committee.

EASTER SEASON

Good Friday - April 3, 2015: Worship service will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the Rectory, starting
at 7:00 p.m. and will include the “Seven Last Words from the Cross”.

Saturday - April 4, 2015: The annual OBCC Children's Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Rectory, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. There will be eggs/candy hunt for ages 10 and under and a scavenger hunt for older kids. Invite friends and family. This event is BYOB—Bring Your Own Basket!   • Sunrise Worship Service at the OBCC Rectory, starting at 6:30 a.m.
    Rev. Dr. Deborah Keaton will deliver the Word.
  • Repast at the Rectory immediately following Sunrise Service.
  • Regular Worship Service at Spencerville Academy, starting at 9:00 a.m.

OBCC’S BLACK HISTORY JEOPARDY

Black History Jeopardy is coming to OBCC on Sunday, March 15, 2015, during Sunday School at the Rectory.

WOMEN AND THE WORD

On March 9, 2015, OBCC’s women will be “Dining in Damascus” as they discuss Biblical Hospitality Today: Scriptural Mandate vs. Spiritual Gift. A special meal, prepared by a Mediterranean chef, will be made from Biblical recipes and served in accordance with Biblical dining etiquette.

EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION

On March 8, 2015, the Sandy Spring Museum is performing an hour long performance with six dynamic Montgomery County residents sharing their personal stories and insights about civil rights.
